Genesis

The English word “Genesis” springs from the Greek translation of the Pentateuch and means “origin,” a befitting title because the book of Genesis is all about origins—of the world, of the human race, of sin, and of the Jewish people. The Hebrew title is translated from the word bereshith (“in [the] beginning”) using the first phrase in the book. Contained in this study of the book of Genesis are glimpses of the beginning with answers to some of the most perplexing questions of ancient history along with fascinating character studies of the great men and women of the Old Testament.
